Moong Dal with dundicut peppers and curry leaves


  • Moong Dal/Green Gram – 1/2 cup
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt (as required)
  • Water – 1/2 cup

For tempering:

  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Dundicut peppers – 4
  • Curry leaves – 2
  • Oil – 2 tbsp


Wash the moong dal/moong bean/green gram, heat the deep cooking saucepan by adding 1 tbsp of oil for 1min, then add the washed moong dal, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt, mix all the ingredients well for 3mins, once moong dal is visually crispy then add water and cover the saucepan for 15mins. After 15mins, moong dal will be perfectly cooked.

For tempering, heat the fry pan with 2tbsp of oil for 3mins, then add the cumin seeds, dundicut peppers and curry leaves, once they change their color, stop the heating and add the whole mixture into the moong dal, moong dal is ready to serve.


Serves 3-4 persons.
