Bottle gourd with onion and green chillies

Ingredients:

  • Bottle Gourd– 1
  • Chopped onion – 2
  • Chopped tomatoes – 2
  • Cooking oil – 5 tbsp
  • Ginger paste – 1 tbsp
  • Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1/3 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/3 tsp
  • Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Water – 1/2 cup
  • Green chillies – 2 to 3 for garnishing
  • Mint leaves – 3 to 5 for garnishing

 

Method:

Take a deep saucepan, heat the cooking oil. Add chopped onions, tomatoes, ginger and garlic paste stir them for almost 5mins so that they could caramelize. Cut bottle gourd/calabash in the form of cubes and add them into the saucepan. Add salt, cumin powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder, mix all the ingredients for 5mins. Pour water, cover the saucepan lid and let it cook for 10mins. Bottle gourd is ready. Garnish it with mint leaves and green chillies.

Serves 3-4 persons.
