Chickpea with potato and green chillies


  • Boiled Chickpeas – 2 cups
  • Potatoes – 3
  • Chopped onion – 1
  • Chopped tomatoes – 2
  • Cooking oil – 1/2 cup
  • Ginger paste – 1 tbsp
  • Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Water – 1/2 cup
  • Green chillies – 2 to 3 for garnishing


Heat the oil in the deep cooking saucepan then add chopped onions, fry them until they are caramelized, add chopped tomatoes and let them cook for 2mins so that they could blend well with the onions. When they are nicely mixed with the oil, add ginger and garlic paste, add salt, cumin powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, keep on mixing all the ingredients until they form a thick paste. Then add boiled chickpeas and potatoes in cubes, cook them for a while, add water. Cover the saucepan lid and let them cook for 15-20mins. Garnish with green chilies. Delicious chickpea with potatoes and green chilies is ready.

Serves 3-4 persons.
